ARTIST BIO
Syngja is the experimental project of Montréal-based producer and cellist Tyr Jami. Fusing hypnotic beats, voice, and live cello with audio-reactive visuals, Syngja creates genre-fluid music somewhere between FKA Twigs, Arca, and hyperpop — at once avant-garde and viscerally immediate.

Drawing from cassette recordings of her Icelandic great-grandmother Ingibjörg Guðmundsdóttir (1891–1994), Syngja transforms folk songs into catchy hooks, loops, and emotional anchors for beat-driven, cinematic production. Recent releases include
Afterlife (2026) and Morphic Subduction (2025).

Her live performances merge vulnerability with audio-reactive visuals that pulse and transform in real time. Syngja writes, produces, performs, and creates all visuals for her work, resulting in a cohesive artistic vision in which sound and image are inseparable.

This performance is designed for darkened venues where sound and visuals can coexist. The desired format is a 30-45-minute set performed solo with cello, effects pedals, laptop processing, projections, and lasers. It's an invitation to experience sound as a physical, transformative force.
