ARTIST BIO
Syngja is the experimental pop project of Montréal-based producer, cellist, and visual artist Tyr Jami. Fusing hypnotic beats, spectral vocal samples, and live cello with audio-reactive visuals, Syngja creates genre-fluid electronic music that sits somewhere between FKA twigs' intimacy, Arca's sonic adventurousness, and the playful chaos of hyperpop. Fusing hypnotic beats, spectral vocal samples, and live cello with audio-reactive visuals
Drawing from cassette recordings of her Icelandic great-grandmother, Syngja transforms Icelandic folk songs into catchy hooks, loops, and emotional anchors for beat-driven tracks and immersive, cinematic production. Her live performances are theatrical, unpredictable events—merging raw vulnerability with audio-reactive visuals that pulse and transform in real-time.
Syngja writes, produces, performs, and creates all visuals for her work, resulting in a cohesive artistic statement in which sound and image are inseparable.
This performance is designed for darkened venues where sound and visuals can coexist. The desired format is a 30-45-minute set performed solo with cello, effects pedals, laptop processing, projections, and lasers. It's an invitation to experience sound as a physical, transformative force.
